Seek First the Kingdom of God... Matthew 6:33

25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear … 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:25, 33-34 NIV

Great leadership means setting priorities that line up with God’s reality. In other words, your priorities must be aligned with what is really important in life.

God-centered leadership—kingdom-seeking priorities—will help those under your care to trust that your first concern is not for yourself, but for serving God—your first concern is to seek the kingdom of God. On the other hand, if you focus on your own priorities, such as work, sports, or recreation, you become, as Jesus says, like the world around you. Seeking your priorities first will not build trust in your leadership and decision making. Do not let the worries of day-to-day life crowd out seeking Christ and his righteousness for you and your family.

Look to Christ to rightly orient what your priorities should be. This week look carefully at this passage in Matthew 6. Where does your mind spend most of its time? Are God’s priorities first? Or are you consumed with getting that buck or worrying about bills or wishing your wife was more sympathetic to your desires? Is God really first? Your leadership is defined by how you answer that question.

I just created the google account, and getting started with my first blog experience... I'm looking forward to the study - Matt 6:33 has been important verse in my life, one which challenges my perspective in life to be Christ-centered.

I too am looking forward to pursuing this study in my group. This Chapter has always played a significant role in my life and attitude. But lately it is in front of me daily as I am dealing with a friend (supposedly a Christian) gripped with worry. I have used this passage to give him hope and Lord willing change his perspective on what is important in life. My prayer is that I will be a Godly example to him, and that he have his perspective revolutionized, by God, for life, not just to call on God to get out of this predicament.

For me Matt. chapters 5,6,and 7 are profound. There is so much wisdom in those three chapters pertaining to life. Looking at our selected Matt.6:25,33-34 it makes me think of the old cliche, "This is where the rubber meets the road." When we look at our lives, the problems, the issues, the relationships, how do we respond? Is Jesus Christ and his kingdom priority one? We need to examine ourselves. Do we fret, worry, get angry, despair or become depressed when life doesn't go the way we would like? The sub-title in my bible says, "The Cure for Anxiety."
Now we have the men's fellowship. We can encourage, challenge, and build one another up. The old iron sharpening iron thing. We can't do it alone, we need accountability. Sounds like richard b is doing just that.
